New York, NY, January 8, 2009 – Johan's address will focus on the importance of accurate life expectancy determinations as the most impactful and misunderstood factor in accumulating a performing Life Settlement portfolio. He will talk about the three "wrecking balls" that affected the life settlement industry in 2008 and what can be done about them:
- Seismic shifts in third party Life Expectancies
- Inexplicable changes in life insurance experience tables as published by the Society of Actuaries (SOA), and
- The recession and credit crunch
His talk will address the adaptation and use of available standard mortality tables and the use of underwriting techniques most suitable for the determination of life expectancies in the settlement market.
